We at CT1 did extensive research into available Sealants and Adhesives on the market. There were so many different Sealants and Adhesives proclaiming to be different applications. For example a Silicone Sealant to seal a bath or shower. An Acrylic sealant to seal showers or Anti-Fungal Sealants. Then Butyl rubber Sealants to seal roofs and it goes on and on. In principal a different Sealant would have to be used for different tasks. The same applies to Adhesives, P.V.A adhesives, Cyanoacrylate (Superglue) for Plastics, two component epoxies for stone, P.U Adhesives for Glass or Fibreglass it’s almost endless. The Sealants referred to earlier to be manufactured to inferior quality in regards to performance or what they proclaim to do i.e. Silicone Sealant used for sealing a bath will fail at some point as the Sealant is packed with solvents that have to evaporate causing shrinkage. All of these Sealants and Adhesives need clean dry surfaces to be applied on. As do Adhesive or Mastics these Adhesives and Sealants all lack flexibility and strength. After all this research C-TEC/CT1 wanted to develop a product to replace all these Sealants and Adhesives in one product with none of the disadvantages of the Sealants and Adhesives available.
